In 2025, with the goal of helping Alexa become the world’s most loved personal AI assistant at scale, the Alexa mobile app plays a pivotal role as the gateway to customers beyond the home, extending Alexa past Echo and smart home devices.

The app puts Alexa+ within arm’s reach of every customer, all the time, wherever they are, to help them get stuff done and create moments of joy.

problem

The team set out to achieve three goals.

  1. Make Alexa the best mobile AI assistant.
  2. Make it a lovable and beautiful app that helps customers get stuff done, with differentiated experiences for smart home and non-smart-home users, a near-even split of the base with distinct needs.
  3. Simplify the app by streamlining the prior multi-feature home screen — For You, Favorites, Recent Chats, Discovery and navigation — to prioritize agent-forward interactions.
